Best Dressed at Glamour’s Women of the Year Awards 2013

Glamour’s Women of the Year Awards were held June 5th in London. A red carpet was rolled out for the superstars but sadly fashion wasn’t taken to the all-highs by the majority of the ladies. With the likes of fashion’s supermodels and music’s favourite singers, there were some notably best-dressed women at the awards.

Glamourous Monochrome

Rita Ora wore a stunning silver-grey Marchesa Spring 2013 gown, made of tulle layers and silver embroidery including an intricately embroidered back feature. The singer styled her gown with Chopard jewellery and Christian Louboutin ‘Paulina Patent’ pointed pumps in nude to finish her look. Rita’s make up was a fresh face with smokey eyes & a nude lippy and she added oomph with a bouffant updo. Rita also won UK Solo Artist on the night.

Jourdan Dunn graced the London red carpet and wore a sexy number, donning Victoria Beckham Spring 2013 RTW. Her LBD was simple yet sexy; a silhouette black dress with sheer panel at the front upper chest and a wide plunge underneath. What I love about this look is how Jourdan added a metal silver band belt, cinching in her waist even more. The model teamed her look with Jimmy Choo ‘Lance’ sandals, which had a slinky design in shiny gold leather material. She kept her hair & make up neat with a gold smokey eye and a sleek ponytail.

From the dress to the designer herself, Victoria Beckham donned black on the red carpet too, but wore Maison Martin Margiela Spring 2013, rather than her own line. VB wore a black jumpsuit that features a heart shaped bustier and has pockets, and an open scoop back. She teamed the jumpsuit with her own designed Victoria Beckham Gold Lamé Box Clutch and grey & black striped Saint Laurent ‘Paloma’ platform sandals, which were sadly almost invisible under the long length of the jumpsuit. Her hair was tousled and sideswept and smokey eye make up added to the dark fierce look. Victoria also won Woman of the Decade on the night, quite the prestigious award, congrats VB!

Monochrome continued with Hayden Panettiere gracing the London red carpet. The petite actress wore Black Halo Eve grey & white black striped dress with a slight keyhole cut out. Unfortunately Hayden wore a Helmut Lang Smoking Wool Tuxedo Blazer over the dress, so it was rather impossible to make out her gorgeous curves. She teamed the dress and blazer with black B Brian Atwood ‘Figara’ boots, that have a lovely patent & suede swirl design. A metallic silver Jimmy Choo ‘Carmen’ clutch, nude lippy, a playful smokey eye and a chic updo completed Hayden’s look.

Prints and Pictures

Singer Ellie Goulding also walked the carpet for the awards. She wore a dress that features lace on the full sleeves, chest and from the knee down, the body of the dress was silhouetted by a sweetheart neckline and featured a print of reds, blacks & whites. She wore gold and silver jewellery and held a small black quilted box clutch.

Irish gal and MTV presenter Laura Whitmore looked cute in a Carven Pre-Fall 2013 newspaper-print-collage cocktail dress, finished in a halter neck. The interesting dress was teamed with a ‘Speech Bubble’ round clutch and bauble-accented heels ankle strap heels, both by Sophia Webster. Minimal jewellery and pale red lipstick finished her look.

Cara Delevingne ditched the dress option ad went for a two piece ensemble: Worn by Squeeze This printed men’s tee, which Cara rolled the sleeves up on and tucked into her Burberry Tailoring black satin slim-fit pants. It’s funny because one of Cara’s BFFs is featured on the tshirt (hint: it’s Rihanna!). The tall model finished her look with high-cuff red satin wedges and a fold-over studded black leather clutch, both also by Burberry Prorsum. Cara wore a scarlet red lipstick to match her fierce eyes and this whole look.

Colour Blocking

Girl group The Saturdays wore a combination of red-black-purple-black on the red carpet, sans Rochelle Humes. Mollie King wore a wonderful Louis Heal Autumn/Winter 2013 gown, which was red double silk satin with a fishtail panel on the front with nude sheer panels. The illusion-creating dress was lovely on Mollie, though I wish she had gone for an updo rather than her tousled style. She also omitted the original red & gold detail belt for a gold glitter belt. Vanessa White donned an LBD, wearing Amen Couture Fall 2013. The charcoal dress is long sleeved with frontal sequin embellishments and a very wide v-neckline, which showed off V’s cleavage. She teamed her look with black platforms, Kiki London ‘Layla’ snakeskin clutch and a wildly voluminous hairdo. Una Healy also wore Amen Couture Fall 2013, opting for a funky purple number. Her fully embellished gown was a strapless with a sweetheart neckline, and was covered in embellishments of pinks, red & purples from the chest to the knee where it faded out to allow the skirt and train to show off the satin material. The now-pretty-pregnant Frankie Sandford donned a charcoal black Halston Heritage fitted dress, showing off the baby bump. The dress features a wide v-neckline with black panels down the side and pleat-like skirting. Frankie also held a limited edition Kiki London ‘Laura Obi’ floral black & red clutch, and Frankie sported her new long hair, which personally I don’t love. All the girls had dark smokey eye make up. The Saturdays also won UK Best Girl Band on the night.

Myleene Klass was pretty in pink on the red carpet, wearing Rachel Gilbert Spring/Summer 2013, which is not yet available. Her dress has a slight structure to it, with piping creating a sweetheart neckline illusion on the straight-lined neckline, with slight cinching on the waist and is mermaid shaped. She wore chunky metallic bracelets, a beach-like tousled hair style and fresh faced make up. Myleene also won Entrepreneur of the Year on the night.

Samantha Barks also sported a fluo hot pink dress for the awards. Her Roland Mouret Resort 2013 ‘Endell’ dress was a striking color with a folded, paneled skirt and textured material. The halter neck bow tie at the back added to the girliness of the colour, which matched her gold peeptoes and bracelets as well as her smokey eye and brunette updo.

Radio DJ Fearne Cotton also opted for colour, stunning in a turquoise Jonathan Saunders ‘Helene’ dress. The Jacquard dress features flower-like embroidery in an a-line style, with short sleeves and a scoop neck. Fearne styled the bright number with gold Charlotte Olympia ‘Paloma’ heels, a gold lace cuff and a white manicure, which matched her bright blonde sideswept do.

Colourful yet safe, Kylie Minogue donned a cute nude coral dress by Moschino. The Resort 2013 dress has tiered ruffles from the halterneck all the way down to the hem, just above the knee. Kylie styled her frock with gold peeptoe stiletto sandals, black & nude chunky bracelets and a sweet coral lippy.

Jessie J wowed in royal blue on the red carpet, wearing Gucci Spring 2013. The blonde shaved singer wore a silk two-piece: a tunic with oversized ruffled sleeves and wide straight-legged pants to match. The tunic also features a keyhole detail at the back, where the ruffles are even more dramatic looking. Jessie matched her electric blue to dark blue peeptoe heels and an odd choice perspex translucent clutch and bauble drop earrings. Jessie J also won Editor’s Special Award on the night.
