New York Fashion Week – September 8th

When it comes to Fashion Week for Spring 2015 Ready-to-Wear, it’s extremely hard to keep up with all the fashion shows, all the new designs and all the looks. And especially so when you’re trying to juggle your 9-6 office job, family & friends and all the usual drama. But oh how I do love Fashion Week; the shows are spectacular, the hype is unbelievable and there’s always something that takes the headlines! As you all know, I worked for the Dublin Fashion Festival for the past few weeks with the festival taking place around Dublin City 4-7th September, and I really truly enjoyed it. But the fashion never stops, and so let’s take a look at this past week’s amazing shows and my favourite looks thus far.

Donna Karan

Urban chic is exactly what this New Yorker thought up for her latest collection, and she definitely delivered it too. There was structure, wild prints, crop tops, bold reds, quirky hats and a lot of fishtail skirting; and it was all fabulous.

3.1 Phillip Lim

This collection saw an Asian-meets-sporty luxe-influence with sculptural details & cuts, in soft pastel hues as well as bold ones, texture and embroidery, leather jackets, wrap tops and tailored pieces. It was an all-round collection that consisted of 40 looks.

Karen Walker

An ode to the classy country lady, Karen Walker’s collection featured vibrant yellow, powder blue, tangerine oranges, grassy greens and slate grey, all of which were very much reflective of country life living. Hats, scarves, garden prints and smart flats were largely featured throughout the show.

Tommy Hilfiger

The Tommy Hilfiger show was definitely one of my favourites, from its ode to the iconic Beatles cover for Seargant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, the grassy gerbera daisies covered runway to the collection itself. Psychedelic colours, gold & glittery, tailored pieces, band-like details, patchwork denim, leather and a lot of stars, this show was just spectacular in every sense and every bit rock & roll.

Lela Rose

The Lela Rose show was every bit girly, every bit feminine, and every bit gorgeous. The kimono was a large influence on the collection too, with its timeless and historic presence, present in the interesting necklines, A-line cuts and floral features.

Carolina Herrera

Taking an artistic direction for the flower, designer Carolina Herrera featured florals in many of her pieces with abstract prints, a romantic colour palette and a lot of white. Ever the brilliant designer, Herrera really delivered with the Spring 2015 RTW collection.

Versus Versace

This Versace show was every bit rock & roll, with classic monochrome taking center stage for almost every look. Designers Donatella Versace & Anthony Vaccarello did an amazing job to make the music genre come to life with the fashion house’s signature patterns, leather cut outs and gold accents for both womens- and menswear.
