So the UK & Irish X Factor has started again, and the female judges have brought it so far, fashion-wise. Newlywed and name-changed Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and fiery, fierce and Scary Spice Mel B are back to the X Factor family (Mel B judged on X Factor Australia for three seasons), and my oh my am I loving them! Their teams are pretty talented; in fact it’s definitely possible for one of them to take this year’s title with their strong contestants. So what have these two powerful former girlgroup members been wearing to the live shows?
Week 1 – Saturday: Opening night, Cheryl wore a black Amanda Wakeley dress that featured an embellished mid section, which she wore with a sparkly chain cuff bracelet, very dark smokey eyes and a straight barnet hairstyle.
Week 1 – Sunday: Cheryl attended the Sunday show in a sexy red jumpsuit by Zuhair Murad. The jumpsuit featured a Celtic-like design on the bodice with a plunging neckline and sheer lace mesh on the waist, which she wore with a chic & voluminous ponytail.
Week 2 – Saturday: For the second week’s show, Cheryl wore a green asymmetrical ruffle full-length Lanvin dress. Behind the ears tucked hair, large interlocking circles drop earrings and a large gold & green bauble bracelet, both by de Grisogono, with Saint Laurent heels. Absolutely stunning! Definitely my favourite look of her’s so far.
Week 2 – Sunday: Keeping well away from green (due to Simon’s “funny” name slag of Kermit the frog), Cheryl opted for a white mini dress with metallic & embellished trims by Nicolas Jebran. The peekaboo dress was teamed with a half-ponytail and black leather panel sandals. I really do like this look on Cheryl, though I prefer her previous night’s attire.
Week 1 – Saturday: Mel wore Alexander McQueen to opening night, donning a white column gown with a crystal embellished bow tie ribbon and a thigh high split, which she wore with black pumps by Christian Louboutin.
Week 1 – Sunday: For the first eliminations night, Mel showed off a lot of leg in her Versus by Anthony Vaccarello asymmetric jersey maxi dress, with an appliqued nude stretch-tulle panel at one side.
Week 2 – Saturday: For the second week, Mel chose fellow Brit Stella McCartney with Christian Louboutin heels. Her neon candy pink full-length and long-sleeved dress was figure-hugging and perfectly matched her bob haircut. I absolutely love this look for Mel, there’s nothing I would change!
Week 2 – Sunday: For results night, Mel chose white again (and matched Cheryl), although this time an Alessandra Rich dress that featured a wide keyhole detail on the front and a lace overlay skirt. I’m not too fond of this look…it’s sort of a hot mess, but the Spice Girl teamed the look with nude Louboutin pumps and a faux bouffant do.
