Last night (June 8th) the CMT Music Awards 2016 took place at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, to once again celebrate country music videos and television performances. The red carpet (well, the pink carpet) was star-studded with the big country names as well as television & film actors and singers alike, it was a great evening with some rather gorgeous fashion too. Both the ladies & gents stepped it up, so let’s see who’s made the Killer Fashion Best Dressed List for this year.
The Best Dressed
Sometimes going casual is as glamorous as going big, and singer Danielle Bradbery did exactly that as she stepped onto the red carpet in a white two-piece. The young brunette attended the CMT awards in this midi-sleeved crop top that featured cut outs on the sides with high-waisted wide-legged pants for an airy and summer appropriate look. The Voice US winner styled her hair into a high ponytail plait with flawless makeup including red lipstick & false lashes. Delicate gold jewellery completed her look.
The fashion game is always strong with this Cyrus sister, as Brandi Cyrus stepped onto the carpet in a nude pink sleeveless that featured thigh-high leg cuts on both sides of the skirt with a slight shimmer throughout the dress. I really love the simple shape & perfect fit of this look, combined with the plum & nude cut out heels, gold mini box clutch and of course Brandi’s gorgeous long hair. She kept her makeup to a minimum with a dewy glow, classic eyeliner and nude lipstick.
Nicole Kidman was in attendance supporting her husband singer Keith Urban, and stepped out in a black Michael Kors dress. The fully sequined dress cut off at the knees with a couple of skirt slits, that she wore with ankle strap Giuseppe Zanotti shoes. Vintage green drop earrings, silver bracelets and a selection earrings by Fred Leighton with an Omega watch, alongside a straight hairstyle and cat eyeliner rounded up the Australian’s look.
Danica Patrick attended in a Self Portrait mini dress, with the brand’s signature tiered skirt detail in peekaboo crochet. The sleeveless short number also featured lace up detail on the neckline, complimented by the t-bar sandals.
Young singer Kelsea Ballerini attended in a strapless black gown to the awards. Her dress featured inverted v-mesh design with purple trims on the bodice with a sheer lace full-length skirt, which she styled black ankle strap shoes to. The look also featured a silver buckle waistbelt, and was styled with mermaid waves, big lashes and soft smokey eyes.
Mary Sarah wore a black & white textured two-piece by Jovani, opting for a halter crop top & high-waisted waterfall skirt that featured white floral embroidered appliqué. The shoes were an odd choice in my opinion; thick ankle strap pumps that just didn’t suit the skirt, but her aubergine purple lipstick and updo hairstyle made up for it.
I adore what Madison Iseman wore to the awards, as she walked out in this black jumpsuit. The black sheer upper-half featured polka dots along the bodice & sleeves with black floral appliqué around the bust, whereas the fit & flared pants were the perfect addition to a classic finish. A messy updo, exaggerated lashes & red lipstick completed this look perfectly.
Maggie Rose attended the CMT awards in a sleevless mini by Mugler. The mini dress featured circular rivet designs all over with a high neck finish that was styled with metallic silver barely there sandals and a gold box clutch. Her drop earrings complimented the upstyle, alongside the exaggerated lashes and soft pink lips.
Nashville actress & singer Clare Bowen looked as cute as can be in her vintage-inspired ensemble. The silk frock featured lace trims around the neckline & shoulders with an overlay and delicate feather fringe on the skirt. Her ethereal look was completed with ivory pointed pumps, a floral hair crown and soft smokey eyes.
Lindsay Ell gave us plenty of leg in her white gown at the awards, donning this look from Johnathan Kayne. The dress featured slits along the sheer sleeves as well as cut outs on the sides with a thigh-high skirt split and a slight train. She wore a matching designer gold collar torque and metallic gold strap sandals too, finishing up with kohl-rimmed smokey eyes and a bouffant updo.
Sadie Robertson attended in a sweet strapless LWD from Sherri Hill, which featured black polka dots and a slight wrap effect on the bodice. Black pumps, red lipstick and soft curled hair was her winning combination for this red carpet moment.
Greer Grammer attended in a light lavendar skater dress, which featured a sheer embroidered back to it. Worn with beige platforms, that personally I dislike, the look was completed with mermaid waves and barely there makeup.
Wearing a fun little number, Brooke Eden stepped out in this Sherri Hill mini dress that featured all-over embellishments. In hues of salmon, orange, silver & white, the dress had a boho vibe about it with the flared sleeves and v-cut neckline that were styled with lace up sandals, a gold & peach clutch and an updo with bangs to finish. Beautiful!
Joey Lauren Adams wore an ice blue silk slip dress to the awards, which also featured an asymmetrical chiffon skirt and a leg split too. Her look was completed with a chunky gold necklace, bracelets and bejewelled sandals for a glamorous finish.
Country singer Kimberly Schlapman of Little Big Town is always fun on the red carpet, and did not disappoint for the CMT awards. The blonde beauty attended in a baby pink v-cut gown that featured sheer trims and a lace body with darker pink sequins, and was more patterned in the lower-half of the skirt. The fitted dress looked beautiful against her skin tone, and was styled well with a magenta silk mini clutch, soft pink drop earrings and a curly updo.
The Hostess with The Mostest
On the red carpet Erin Andrews wore a silver slip gown that featured a mid slit on the skirt. She then changed into a Theia Couture gown for the show, and also a black & white geometrical printed plunging mini dress. She kept her hair in mermaid waves throughout the show with neutral makeup, switching her red carpet red lipstick for a nude hue during her hosting role.
A Splash of Colour
British singer Leona Lewis wowed in a red dress as she attended the awards in Nashville. Her silk midi dress had a scooped neckline with off-the-shoulders ruffle detail and a side slit on the skirt that hugged her curves beautifully. Black ankle strap sandals, minimal jewels and classic makeup completed her look.
Going for a vibrant fuchsia hue, Lauren Alaina walked the red carpet in this off-the-shoulder fitted gown by Theia Couture. The bodice featured slight wrap detail and was styled with a gold ombré box clutch, and an upstyle with bangs for a classy finish. You know I love when a star wears an Irish designer, and Lauren did us proud!
Also wearing the Irish designer’s creation, Cassadee Pope she stepped out in this stunning Theia Couture gown. The sheer body was printed with Asian ladies, florals & towers and featured an open back & train too. Mermaid waves and minimal accessories completed her look.
Also going for a bold pink colour, Chelsea Talmadge attended the soirée in this Solace London cut out. The strapless featured a v-sweetheart neckline with a cut out on the midriff and a pencil skirt finish, styled perfectly with Swarovski Crystals jewels, beige ankle strap sandals and a floral printed clutch.
Country star Carrie Underwood looked beautiful in her Mikael D. gown. The dress featured a cut out halterneck finish with watercolour floral print and a thigh high leg split that showed off her Jimmy Choo sandals. With a soft curled bob hairstyle, she added Maxior earrings and a Noudar ring to her look with light pink lipstick. During the show, she performed ‘Church Bells’, which you can watch here, and Carrie Underwood also won the CMT Music Awards for Best Female Video of the Year for ‘Smoke Break’ and CMT Performance of the Year for ‘Smoke Break at Instant Jam’.
