Best Dressed at The Fashion Awards 2016

Yesterday evening (December 5) the annual Fashion Awards 2016 (formerly the British Fashion Council Awards) took place in London town, brilliantly hosted by comedian Jack Whitehall in the beautiful Royal Albert Hall. The red carpet was full of famous faces from models to designers, actresses to businesswomen and the fashion itself was just amazing! There were so many best dressed ladies & gentlemen that it’s hard to keep up. So who exactly made the Killer Fashion Best Dressed List this year, and who won big on the night?

The Best Dressed

Neelam Gill was hands-down one of my favourite looks on the night. Sexy but still classy, the British beauty attended donning a strapless silk gown by Kristian Aadnevik that featured black French lace trim a bustier bodice with lace sides & panels down the skirt, alongside leather details and a side leg slit. The teal blue hue was a beautiful match for her skin tone, styled with a same-designer leather crocodile print clutch and platform peeptoe sandals from ALDO Shoes. Straight hair, smokey eyes and a nude lip, with a selection of silver rings completed the model’s red carpet moment. Click here to buy Neelam Gill’s ALDO Shoes sandals!

I love a classic LBD, and Ana Beatriz Barros El Chiaty absolutely nailed it in this gorgeous look by Ralph & Russo. The Brazilian model was such a beautiful sight as she stepped out in London, wearing this strapless gown that featured a velvet bustier and a sheer ruffled skirt with a slight waterfall trim. Amping up the dark beauty, she added jewellery by British designer David Morris, wearing a dazzling silver rose bangle and a hand bracelet along with chandelier earrings, and black satin pumps by Charlotte Olympia. Sultry smokey eyes, a sleek half-up half-down straight hairstyle and soft pink lips completed her styling for this gorgeous look.

White Hot

British model Jourdan Dunn attended in a two-piece ensemble by designer Brandon Maxwell. The dark toned beauty wore a silk & pleated bandeau with high-waisted flared pants, rounding up with a high wrap-around bun ponytail soft eyeshadow, cat eyeliner and nude lipstick that really was a “less is more” kind of look.

Pixie Geldof opted for a caped sheer white kimono dress by Zandra Rhodes, that featured a v-neckline and delicate design with a silk bow tie on the waist. Silver platforms and a beautifully contrasting turquoise glitter clutch. The brunette added a selection of jewellery to her look, and looked very fresh-faced following her weekend in Dingle, Co. Kerry for the Other Voices festival.

Wearing white to the awards, Irish designer Simone Rocha attended wearing her own design; an oversized blouse with ruched half-sleeves and a contrasting textured midi skirt. Black lace up platform shoes, a furry bag, and her signature long hair with only an orange-red lipstick completed her styling, that was simple yet beautiful. Simone Rocha was also honoured with the Fashion Award for British Womenswear Design, which you can watch here, congratulations!

Always ahead in the fashion game, Olivia Palermo looked stunning as she stepped out wearing this Peter Pilotto creation. The white off-the-shoulders midi dress featured blue and brown ornate embroidery & trims and slits on the skirt and shoulders, adding a slight Oriental vibe to the look. Personally I’m not a fan of the shoe-boots by Jimmy Choo, but the architecturally designed Nathalie Trad clutch, jewellery by Monica Vinander and that steely blue metallic eyeshadow I am a big fan of!

Representing her country’s fashion designers, model Abbey Clancy attended the awards in Julien Macdonald. The bronde beauty wore a long-sleeved wrap dress that featured lapels along the neckline and a wrap detail on the waist, with metallic threading throughout. Her retro glam wavy hair, flawless makeup, pewter strappy sandals by Kurt Geiger and earrings by David Morris were the perfect finishing touches.

Chairman of The British Fashion Council, Natalie Massenet looked fantastic donning Ralph & Russo. The white peekaboo sheer dress featured floral appliqué and feather details on the skirt with mini sleeves and cut off at the ankle. Bejewelled peeptoe heels, a colourful box clutch and straight hair with a pearl-hairband rounded up this powerful woman’s beautiful look.

Black Beauties

Some may not like the look model Winnie Harlow opted for, as she stepped out wearing this black silk dress by Baja East. The strapless LBD featured a wrap over & side knot on the bust with jagged edges, a thigh-high leg cut that she wore with black & green marbled lace up heels, a green floral ring and one oversized dreamcatcher earring. Metallic smokey eyes, soft pink lips and a top knot completed her awards attire.

Immy Waterhouse opted for a similar style to fellow model Jourdan Dunn, though wearing black, as she walked the red carpet in a bandeau and high-waisted trouser set by OSMAN. The plain black bandeau, which featured long ties at the back, allowed the ruched & tied lace trousers to do all the talking, with the wide flared and partially sheer finish, that fit the young blonde rather perfectly. Long wavy hair, one rose gold tassel & ball earring cuff and a disc pendant necklace rounded up her styling, alongside black eyeliner and a matte off-red lipstick.

Chief Executive of the British Fashion Council, Caroline Rush looked beautiful in her long black dress. The sleeveless silk number was tucked in under the bust and featured a gold chainlinks pattern on the high neck, embellished with pearls and gems for that little sparkle. Minimal makeup and accessories were the perfect finishing touches.

Legendary model Kate Moss also attended the awards, and went full glam in her black velvet gown. The v-cut dress featured a fishtail skirt and train, that she wore with a black fur coat on the shoulders, styling her retro glam look with a gold peeptoe heels, a gold textured clutch, drop earrings and cat eyeliner to finish.

Karlie Kloss joined her many fellow models on the red carpet, attending in a black dress by Stella McCartney. Opting for British design, the American model’s slim physique was teased with the open-sides halterneck dress that featured a metal waistbelt, firework embroidery, and velvet panels along the sides and at the back. Tousled waves, red lipstick and of course, Swarovski jewellery, as Karlie is the face of the brand’s new campaigns.

As noted before, singer Lady Gaga‘s style has become more demure, and I really love it. For the Fashion Awards in London, the blonde showcased a full-length bodycon look by Brandon Maxwell, that featured a minimal halterneck with a low scooped back and dramatic caped train. The column look was perfect for the singer, though she did her usual fashion faux pas by wearing ridiculously high platform boots…

The Femme Suit

Eva Herzigova was one of the lovely ladies to walk the red carpet in a pantsuit, opting for a black & white look in head-to-toe Dolce & Gabbana. The white suit was beautifully teamed with a black shirt, black pointed pumps and leather bag with a chain handle. I absolutely love this, it’s such a powerful look and very stylish. Simple eyeliner and soft red lipstick by Dior with a fresh curled blowdry and the legendary model was good to go.

Actress Kate Beckinsale walked the red carpet donning a black power suit that had silk lapels with black pumps by Ralph Lauren. The brunette beauty added a questionable studded leather choker, completing the look with a bouffant ponytail and smokey eyes.

Some people attend, and then some people show up, and for singer Nicole Scherzinger, she was definitely the latter. The brunette stepped out on the red carpet in this cut out jumpsuit by Julien Macdonald, with whom she attended, that featured black & sheer striped design with interlinking patterns too. The halterneck caped look also featured extreme cut outs on the waist-to-hips area, which personally I find distasteful, as well as the shoulders, and a black waistband to hold it up. White cut out ankle strap sandals, silver diamond ear cuffs and slicked back hair with her signature dark eye makeup completed her styling.

Also joining in on the not-dress look, Bel Powley attended in a diamond-printed jumpsuit by Burberry that not only featured a plunging neckline but also a cape for a fashionable flair. Kohl-rimmed eyes, a soft pink lip and soft-brushed hair with silver hoop earrings, black & silver studded peeptoe heels and a silver mini bag rounded up her styling for the awards.

Giovanna Battaglia easily stood out on the red carpet as she walked out in this strapless fully sequined jumpsuit by Halpern. The funky onesie featured a straight-cut neckline with a peplum detail on the waist and a contrasting zebra-like patterned leg, that’s a signature of the brand. The Italian brunette beauty looked truly fabulous, opting for long straight hair, barely there makeup and minimal accessories to finish.

Looking pretty in pink, Daisy Lowe attended wearing a hot pink jumpsuit by Antonio Berardi. The fitted sleeveless look featured a straight-cut neckline with delicate gold chain straps with gemstone ends that also matched her gold hoop earrings and gold fold over. A full-fringed ponytail with eyeliner and a matching pink lipstick completed the brunette’s awards attire.

Silky Smooth

Pixie Lott sure opted for an interesting look to the awards. The petite blonde opted for an ice blue silk bardot gown with a fishtail skirt finish, designed by Dolce & Gabbana. With a tight curly fro hairstyle, the singer added a silver embellished box handbag and a crown to her look… Yes, a crown. The head-to-toe D&G look sure had her standing out, and following her recent engagement to longterm boyfriend, model Oliver Cheshire, there’s no reason she shouldn’t feel like a princess.

Brunette Zara Martin opted for a silky number too, donning this asymmetrical creation by Alessandra Rich. The dress featured an open section across the bust that was then tied at the waist & shoulder, with one full sleeve, ruched detail on the waist and a leg slit on the skirt too. She added jewellery by Aurum + Grey, including a floating diamond ear pin and an ear cuff, as well as silver glittering peeptoe platforms and a black strap watch by Longines. A full-fringed ponytail, with exaggerated lashes, eyeliner and a nude matte lip to finish.

Tanya Burr attended the awards wearing Luisa Beccaria, a silk midi dress in a nude purple hue. The blouse of the look featured exaggerated frills along the neckline and around the neck as well as on the cuffs of the sleeves, whereas the pleated skirt contrasted with its upper-half. She styled her look with dark purple velvet ankle strap platform sandals by Jimmy Choo, with dark smokey eyes and a plum lip colour along with an updo to finish.

Also wearing a silk gown, Clara Paget attended in Chalayan. Donning this caped v-cut dress, it featured geometric & arrow prints, with a mid slit on the skirt that showed off her strappy platform heels. A sleek curled hairstyle, pearl necklace, and barely there makeup rounded up her look.

One of the most talked about ladies on the night, Gigi Hadid attended the awards in a silk creation by Atelier Versace. The one-shoulder jumpsuit featured pleated wrap details on the bust, some of which was metallic-threaded, with one section turning into a neckpiece, as well as draped section from the waist that floated out in a train. She added silver strappy sandals to her look, surprisingly with zero jewellery and shimmering eye makeup, a nude lip and a sleek top knot to finish. Gigi Hadid was also honoured with the Fashion Award for International Model, which you can watch here.

A Lace Affair

Legendary model Naomi Campbell attended in a black lace gown by Alexander McQueen. The look featured a full-length & long-sleeved lace and sequined overlay worn with a fitted corset bodice underneath, styled with sparkling jewellery from the upcoming new collection by Samer Halimeh New York & Naomi Campbell! Her glam makeup and bouffant half-up half-down hairstyle rounded up this look perfectly.

Stepping out in dark purple lace, Laura Haddock was in attendance donning Zuhair Murad for the evening. The blouse of the dress featured sheer lace sleeves with panels of both sheer & lace, with a tiered peplum & lace skirt, and a frill high neck to finish. A sleek plaited hairstyle, shimmery eye makeup and nude lipstick, with a Jimmy Choo clutch completed her look.

Singer Mollie King also attended, wearing an off-the-shoulder lace and embroidered gown by COUTURÍSSIMO. The look featured a deep plunging neckline with leather trims, a black lace bodice and a sheer skirt embroidered in dark red, teal & purple leaf and dragonfly motifs, which also matched the trims of the half-sleeves. Black pumps, long wavy hair and nude pink lipstick completed the blonde beauty’s awards attire.

Joan Smalls looked tres chic in her lace outfit from Baja East. The olive green two-piece featured a long-sleeved sheer lace crop top with a scallop trim and a contrasting line of turquoise fringe along the sleeves, with matching relaxed track pants and were worn with embellished triple strap sandals. A choker necklace, vampy lipstick and straight hair completed her awards attire.

Model Lily Donaldson looked gorgeous in her nude pink peekaboo lace look to the Fashion Awards. The gorgeous blondie rocked the red carpet wearing a custom-made dress by Burberry, which featured a bustier bodice with a cinched waistband and a sheer loop-embroidered skirt that showed off her long legs. Styled with gold patent sandals, jewellery by Bvlgari and smokey eyes with a nude lip colour, this was a gorgeous look for the awards.

Metallic Madness

Opting for highstreet meets designer, Bebe Rexha attended the Fashion Awards in a slinky wrap dress by River Island, which was teamed with a faux fur coat by Fendi. With a wide-v neckline and ruched detail, the dress fit in perfectly for the evening and was amped up with the coat and nude pumps. Cat eyeliner, scarlet red lipstick and straight hair completed her look. Click here to buy Bebe Rexha’s River Island dress!

Going for quite the short LBD, Amber Valletta stepped out wearing a sequin dress by Saint Laurent. The deep sweetheart neckline, the leather waistbelt, the silver & black pumps and the monogram YSL leather clutch were perfect additions for this evening’s affair.

Donatella Versace of course wore Versace, attending in a sparkling gold sequin & pavé gown. The blonde designer opted for her signature black eye makeup, nude lipstick and delicate jewellery with her soft curled hairstyle.

Designer Alice Temperley also opted for embellishment, donning a high neck black & sheer dress by her own label, Temperley London. The full-length and long-sleeved dress featured all-over crystal latticework embroidery, which she wore with embellished platform heels and a sparkling clutch too. Smokey eyes, an updo with red lipstick completed her look.

Elena Perminova stepped out in an ochre midi gown. The pleated dress featured an embellished waistband, with a statement bejewelled cage around the shoulders and along the neckline, complete with a pearl choker necklace. Nude barely there sandals, an updo and soft pink lipstick completed her awards attire.

A Splash of Colour

Adding some cute femininity to the red carpet, fashion icon Alexa Chung stepped out to the awards donning Prada. The Oriental design of the two piece was adorned with delicate embroidery, black trims and a high neck with a thin waistbelt, as well as fluffy feathery cuffs on both the jacket and ankle-grazing trousers. Beautifully styled with retro waves, black pumps and red lipstick, this is such a fashionable moment for the brunette.

Laura Bailey attended the awards donning Giles Deacon Couture, as she stepped out in this colourful sleeveless ballgown. The red and purple dress featured abstract floral print with a slight pleated skirt trim from the knees, that she styled with a iridescent leather clutch, statement shimmering eye makeup and a light red lipstick, with a sleek ponytail to finish.

Salma Hayek worked her curves beautifully attending the Fashion Awards in head-to-toe Gucci. Her fitted column gown featured a red and gold rose-leaf print with butterfly capped shoulders and a black velvet waistband. Her dazzling collar necklace, minimalist earrings and cocktail ring added extra oomph to the look, finished with a black velvet & gold hardware clutch, black eyeliner and a berry lip colour.

One of my favourite designers, Charlotte Olympia, was such a beautiful lady in red as she walked the red carpet in a strapless sweetheart mermaid gown. Donning Zac Posen for the occasion, the designer complimented her look with a delicate pearl necklace, a black clutch with gold plating and of course, her own Charlotte Olympia peeptoe sandals. Retro glam curls and red lipstick were the perfect finishing touches for this.

Opting for a frenzy of colour, Livia Giuggioli attended in a sleeveless dress that featured fan-like prints and side pockets, which she styled with a royal blue clutch, green peeptoe heels and sparkling diamond drop earrings.

Erin O’Connor is always a favourite of mine on the red carpet, and with her ochre & black gown choice, she did not disappoint. Wearing Giles Deacon Couture, the legendary model genuinely looked like an awards statue in her ballgown that featured black slash-like prints with a fuss-free roundneck and sleeveless finish. A black rectangular crocodile pattern Jimmy Choo clutch was styled to the look, with subtle makeup and a slicked back hairstyle.

Well you know I just love a good red dress, and Doina Ciobanu absolutely delivered that wearing LaMania to the awards. The red long-sleeved look featured a tie at the neck with a low-v neckline, cinched in waistband and a side leg slit, showing off her thigh-high red suede boots by Le Silla. Long wavy hair, flawless makeup and red lipstick rounded up this look perfectly.
