Put a Spring in Your Step with the Magee 1866 Spring/Summer Collection For Him

The temperatures are slowly but surely rising, allowing Ireland to finally welcome Springtime. One of my favourite transitions on the fashion calendar, it’s great to see many Irish brands designing more pieces that not only suit our weather but our fashion styles. Irish heritage brand Magee 1866 have unveiled the Spring/Summer 2018 Collection and it is full of beautiful pieces for the gents.

Following their Spring/Summer 2018 Collection fashion show (February 13), held in their Dublin flagship store on South Anne Street, Magee 1866 showcased new tailoring pieces for both the ladies and gentlemen, as well as a host of beautiful knitwear and accessories. Made from luxurious fabrics that include cashmere, silk, lambswool and cotton, these are at the core of everything Magee 1866 creates, made with love, care and pride.

Her: Pink Cashmere Jumper (€215), Black Fahan Trousers (€125) // Him: Blue with White Stripe Tailored Fit Blazer (€349)

Magee 1866 are renowned for their tailoring, one of their proud elements to the heritage brand, and now their contemporary designs are attracting the attention of a younger audience, of which I am delighted. Gone are the days when it was only a black suit or blue blazer, as more colourful designs are evident throughout the collection, like the Raspberry Micro Design Murvagh Tailored Fit Blazer (€349) to the Orange Linen Blend Finn Tailored Fit Blazer (€345).

But of course, blue is still a prominent colour to choose from, though given an update from the plain hue. The Blue Check Three-Piece Tailored Fit Suit (€675) features a subtle hint of terracotta and burgundy, while the cobalt Blue & Raspberry Overcheck Finn Tailored Fit Blazer (€395) has more obvious raspberry pink design to it.

The Magee 1866 brand has a highly respected reputation for their suits, notably their three-piece looks, which can often be mixed and matched with other colours and materials too. If you’re on the hunt for the classic dark blue hue, the Blue Pinstripe 3 Piece Suit (from €110) is the one to go for, while the Blue Check 3 Piece Tailored Fit Suit (€675) is still a classic colour but has a more defined pattern. Personally, I love the hints of colour the new Magee 1866 suits feature, especially the above mentioned Blue & Raspberry Overcheck Finn Tailored Fit Blazer (€395) styled with the Raspberry Waistcoat (€149), that’s ideal for summer weddings and special events.

And then there’s the casual wear that Magee 1866 offers, which feature cotton knit jumpers and gilets to help keep you cosy, comfortable, and effortlessly cool. A great look for any weekend outing with friends or family is the Navy Erdim 1/4 Zip Classic Fit Sweater (€115) styled here with the Raspberry Raha Tailored Fit Polo Shirt (€69). If you’re looking for a classy knit jumper to wear from office to bar, opt for the Taupe Faugher Cotton Crew Neck Classic Fit Jumper (€99), that’s 100% cotton and features a unique structured pattern throughout.

If you’re an outdoorsy kind of guy or are looking for a light layer, the Navy Akeeran Reversible Classic Fit Gilet (€289) is a nifty piece to have in your wardrobe. Reversible, one side is this navy hue with a double stitch diamond quilt design and a grey hue with a classic diamond quilt design on reverse. Polo shirts, long-sleeved shirts and chinos as well as accessories and outerwear are also aplenty.
